Notice of Closure

It is with great regret that the very difficult decision has been taken to close the Riverhill hotel to external guests on a permanent basis.

This is not a decision that has been taken lightly, but an environment that was already difficult for the hospitality industry has been made immeasurably worse by the Covid crisis. Although at some point in the coming weeks we would probably be permitted to open on a socially distanced basis, having looked at how that would work operationally this would not be economically viable for us if we were to maintain the high standards that our customers deserve and to guarantee the safety of our staff and guests.

We have taken this decision now in order to give both our guests and staff as much notice as possible to make alternative arrangements.   Over the next couple of weeks we will be contacting all guests who had future bookings with us.  Any deposits will be refunded in full and we will do our best to assist people with making alternative arrangements.

Persons holding gift vouchers can either use these to purchase food for delivery from our take-away food service, which will continue to run until the end of the Covid lock-down, use them  to purchase anything from Tranmere Rovers , or request a cash refund.

Since the Covid crisis hit and we were forced to close the doors of the hotel and restaurant, we have been using the premises to support the local community.  The hotel has become a hub for the preparation and delivery of almost 1,000 food parcels for families in financial distress, and we have been preparing cooked meals on a not-for-profit basis to support people at home who may not be in a position to cook for themselves.  These activities will continue for so long as they are needed, and we will also continue with our take away food service during that time.  The menus for our takeaway menu, Sunday lunch service and not-for-profit food bundles can be found [here]

We would like to place on record our thanks both to the customers who have supported us for years, and also to the staff who have worked hard to deliver a top quality service with a friendly smile.
